Zelma Stone

Zelma Malinda. Stone, 86, of Mt. Vernon, IN went to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. Zelma was born August 29, 1919 in Mt. Vernon, IN daughter of George Otto and Flora Malinda (Sturm) Lopp. In years past Zelma was employed at Gundis Restaurant in Mt Vernon and at USI in Evansville through Green Thumb. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God Mission where she played the piano and organ. Her other talents were playing the guitar and accordion. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Her husband, Gilbert Stone, daughters, Becky Stone and Linda Clark, and her son’s, Paul “Pete” and Gilbert Eugene Stone, her sister, Ellen Kern and brothers, Melvin and Merle Lopp preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughters, Priscilla Dean Stewart and her husband Manuel of Big Sandy, TN and Shirley Kay White and her husband Tom of Sturgis, KY; sons, Jimmy Stone and his wife Faye and Dennis Stone, Sr. of Mt. Vernon, IN, Darrell Stone and his wife Kay of Mayfield, KY and Harold Disney and his wife Deanna of Greenfield, IN

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 28, 2006 at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 East Fourth Street, Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Leon Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Black Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday and from 1:00 pm until service time on Sunday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Church of God In Mission in Mt. Vernon.
