Wilma Lee Vanderver, age 80 of Mt. Vernon, died early Monday morning November 28, 2011, at the Mt. Vernon Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born March 15, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Wilbur and Daisy (Redman) Cochrum. She married Vertis Wayne “Pepper†Vanderver and he preceded her in death on January 17, 1993.
Mrs. Vanderver retired from Windsor Plastics in Evansville in 1993. She loved her family and taking care of her dog “Peggyâ€. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Moe and Brenda Vanderver and Jerry Vanderver all of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Angie and Brandon Vanderver and Tawana Cox; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Morgan Vanderver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pepper; two brothers, George and Gene Cochrum and one sister, Mary Robb.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday November 30, 2011 at the Austin~Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Derrick Ousley officiating. Burial will be in Black Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at austinfuneralhome.com
