Wilma Marie (nee Wood) Thomas. Age 84 passed away Wednesday morning, May 6, 2009, at the Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after an extended illness.

Wilma was born September 14, 1924, a daughter of the late Rev. George Everett (G.E.) and Oma Elizabeth Grimm Wood in Solitude, Indiana. She married the late Orville Glenn “Snooky” Thomas on July 10, 1943. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2009. Mrs. Thomas was a life member of the Deaconess Auxiliary, and past member of the White County Home Extension Club. She was long time member of the Pentecostal Assembly (Heartland) and the Landes Street Full Gospel Church of both of Mount Carmel, Ill and Harvestime Temple of Mount Vernon, IN. Wilma and Orville spent their lives doing many tasks at their churches, especially directing the Children Church Ministries.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her son Jerry Glenn; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Irene; two brothers, Edwin (G.E.), and Kenneth; two sisters, Nellie Craig, and Lillian Kingery.

She is survived by, two sons, Larry and his wife Phoebe, of Newburgh, In and Dale and his wife Joyce, of Mount Vernon, IN; three sisters, Emily Jane Burklow, and Evoma and her husband Louis Kester, both of Mount Vernon and Naomi Poole of Evansville, IN; six grandchildren, Brian and his wife Garsy of Zanesville, IN; Cheryl and Kari Thomas both of Fort Wayne, IN; Jared of Valparaiso, IN; Katelynn Thomas of Lexington, IN; and Brooke and her husband Tim Turpin of Wheaton, MD; and six great grandchildren, Ty, Ethan, T.J., Aryn, Zoe and Natalie. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 1:00 PM, at the Harvestime Temple, 101 Roosevelt Drive, Mount Vernon. The family will receive friends and family on Saturday from 11:00 Am to 1:00 PM at Harvestime Temple.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Deaconess Auxiliary, % Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, IN.
