Wilma Rumsey, 87, of Norris City, passed away at 11:45 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2014 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born February 16, 1927 in Carmi; the daughter of William and Lucy (Nelson) Large. Wilma married Wilbourn Douglas Rumsey on October 31, 1948 and he preceded her in death March 10, 1986. She was a homemaker and a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Norris City.
Wilma is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Murphy of Carmi; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald Rumsey and Terry and Betty Rumsey all of Norris City; eleven grandchildren, John and Joey Murphy, Dixie, Dustin, Ryan, Jennifer & D.J. Rumsey, Amber Daugherty, Ashley Garrett, Amy Wilson and Andrea Dotson; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Faye Large of Carmi and Naomi Large of Florida; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Swalls and Barbara Jean Canfield; two brothers, John and Bill Large; and a son-in-law, Roy Murphy.
Funeral services for Wilma Rumsey, 87, of Norris City, will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Rev. Dennis Reed and Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call on Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be given in Wilma's name to Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
