Wilma W. Poole, 94, of Carmi passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 11:57pm at Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Carmi. She was born April 19, 1918 in Epworth, Il the daughter of Sylvester Merideth and Nellie May (Hall) Creek. Wilma married Thomas Woodrow Poole on December 28, 1935 and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1995. Wilma was a homemaker, a member of Tennessee Bend Missionary Baptist Church and attended Cherry St. General Baptist Church.
Wilma is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Mitchell and Linda Glascock and her husband Tim all of Carmi and Sharon Austin of Arthur, IL; a son Keith Poole and his wife Patsy of Carmi; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Poole of Herald; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Rennels of Henderson, KY and Glenda Poole of Carmi; 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Poole; three sons-in-law, Sam Mitchell, Lee Austin and Albert Barbre; five sisters, Ann Ackerman, Nellie Weasel, Beulah McCandless, Elsie Haught and Mary Ellen Creek; two brothers, James Sylvester Creek and an infant brother and one grandchild.
Funeral Services for Wilma W. Poole, 94, of Carmi will be Friday, May 25, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery near Norris City. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Friday from 11:00 am until service time.
