Wilma L. Freeman, 92, of Carmi and formerly of Norris City, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 6:59 a.m. at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born on July 6, 1923 in Norris City, Illinois, the daughter of Wayne Anthony and Mildred Ellen (Hedges) Spence. Wilma married William H. Freeman on October 8, 1978 and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2007. She worked at Whirlpool Corp. in Evansville until her retirement. Wilma was a member of First Christian Church in Norris City and a former member of the Rebecca Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a Cincinnati Reds baseball fan.

Wilma is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Randy Smith of Albion; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Rani Martin of Oxford, CT; two step-daughters, Billie Marmer and her husband, Dan and Beverly Wolf; a step-son, Randy Freeman and his wife, Patti; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including her loving niece, Mary Ruth Gothard and her husband, Troy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Vaughan Spence and Leon and Laura Spence

Graveside funeral and burial services for Wilma L. Freeman, 92, of Carmi and formerly of Norris City, will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Village Cemetery in Norris City with Mike Fields officiating. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
