William South

William R. South 88, of Enfield, passed away Friday afternoon August 18, 2017 at the Linda E. White Hospice Center in Evansville. He was born November 5, 1928 in Enfield, the son of Curtis Royal and Laura Elizabeth (Jordan) South. He married Lois A. Askew on December 31, 1949 at the Delafield Baptist Church.

Bill was a mechanic and an over 55 years of service driving the bus for the Enfield School District. He was a past member of the Enfield Lions Club, Enfield Fire Department and Civil Defense; and the Enfield Mule Day Association. He was a member of the Gideon’s and the Enfield Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; his children, William (Debra) South of Carmi and Sharon (Steve) Mitsdarffer of Enfield; grandchildren, Angie (Chad) Mathis, Craig (Lisa) Mitsdarffer, Chad (Robbilyn) Mitsdarffer, Sara (Quinton) Runyon, Mary Ann (Mitch) Gross; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Ben Mathis, Isaac and Olivia Mitsdarffer, Will and Whitney Runyon and Mason and Maggie Gross; sister, Frances York. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Stan South.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday August 20, 2017 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield with burial in Enfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until services.
