Wendy Groves

Wendy Renee Groves, age 41, of Mt. Vernon , IN , passed away the evening of Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville . She was born December 12, 1968 in Evansville , IN the daughter of Jimmie Ray Reeves and Alta (Mason) Mills. She married Leon “Kent” Groves and he survives.


Mrs. Groves worked as an EMS Dispatcher for Posey County for five years, and served for four years with the Mt. Vernon City Police Department before being transferred to dispatch.



She is survived by her husband, Leon; a son, Parker Kent Groves of Mt. Vernon ; a daughter, Sierra Danielle Riordan, of Mt. Vernon ; her father and step-mother, Jimmie and Nancy Reeves of Mt. Vernon; a grandfather, Charlie Reeves of Mt. Vernon; and many other relatives and friends.


She is preceded in death by her mother, Alta (Mason) Mills; a grandfather, Kenneth Mason; and both grandmothers, Bonnie Reeves and Mildred Mason.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 11:00 am, at Austin-Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon , IN. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 4 to 8:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in Bellefontaine Cemetery in MT. Vernon , IN. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt Vernon General Baptist Cancer Assistance Fund or to At The Cross Missions of Mt. Vernon, IN.
