Wava Joyce Burnett

   Wava Joyce Burnett, 86, of Carmi, IL. passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 14, 1938, in Carmi, the daughter of George William Jordan and Florence (Meredith) Hoy. Wava married Frank D. Burnett, on June 12, 1954 in Emma Township. She was a devoted mother and grandma, who enjoyed spending quality time with family. Some of her favorite things to do were card playing and camping. 

   Wava is survived by her children, Larry (Denise) Burnett, Kevin (Tara) Burnett, Alan (Cheryl) Burnett, Mary-Ann Burnett, and Carolyn Clifford; grandchildren, Matthew (Melinda) Burnett, Amy (Alvin) Kauffman, Luke (Maria) Burnett, Stephanie Graham, Johnnie (Tanya) Clifford, Melinda (Greg) Reel, Justin (Stephanie) Burnett, Kyle (Ella Carter) Burnett, Chad Burnett, Hunter Williams, Levi Williams, Dayna (Mason) Siegel, Jacob Burnett, and Andrew Burnett, 28 great- grandchildren; 11 great-great- grandchildren; siblings, Donald Jordan, Brenda Barbre, Gene Jordan, Cathy Garrett, She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her siblings, James Hoy, Shirley Hamilton, Donna Sluder, Joanne James, Mary Jane Buckner, Agnes Rodgers, Neta Meyers, and Sherrill Jordan and her grandson, Derrick Burnett. 

   Funeral services for Wava Joyce Burnett will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial following immediately at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on July 25, 2024. Contributions may be made in Wava's memory to either St. Jude or Shriners Children's Hospitals and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home who is in charge of the arrangements.
