Wanda G. Yates, 80, of Carmi, passed away at 1:53 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born August 23, 1933 in Carmi, the daughter of Samuel Leslie and Rhoda Mae (Brock) Dill. Wanda married Adam D. Yates on August 20, 1970 and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2001. She had worked for 15 years in housekeeping at Wabash Christian, a place she called home the past few years. Wanda was an active member of First Pentecostal Church in Carmi.
She is survived by her two daughters and a two sons-in-law, Pam and Audy Sutton of Crossville and Darla and Ed Elpers of Lynnville, IN; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Joyce Courson of Evansville, IN; six grandchildren, Tyler and Kayla Sutton, Jennifer Sturgal, Jeremy and Josh Courson and Amy Albright-Powers; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Pickerell and a brother, Elmer Dill.
Funeral services for Wanda G. Yates, 80, of Carmi, will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Bill Wagner and Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call on Friday, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be given in Wanda's name to Wabash Christian Retirement Center and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
