Wanda Walker

August 15, 1937 — June 29, 2004


Wanda Marie Walker, 66, formerly of Mt. Vernon, IN and residing in Zion, IL went to be with her Savior on June 29, 2004.
She was born August 15, 1937 in Mt. Vernon, IN.
Wanda graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1955 and Missouri Baptist Nursing School in 1963. She was a licensed Registered Nurse and practiced in several states including Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, California, and Hawaii before moving to Zion to reside with her sister, Betty Zoph.
Wanda is a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, IN. Some of her hobbies included arts and crafts, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed her occupation, giving love and care to terminally ill patients, and giving daily devotion to her Saviour Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her sisters Betty Zoph of Zion, IL, and Beverly Howe of Mt. Vernon, IN:
brothers, James Walker of Mt. Vernon, IN, Dr. Don Walker and wife, Jenny, of Carmel, IN, Paul Walker and wife Shirley of Evansville, IN, and step-brother, Herman Roach, Jr. and his wife Toni of Mt. Vernon, IN: 20 nieces and nephews and 21 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse R Walker, and mother, E. Marie (Stoneberger) Walker Roach, step-father Herman Roach, Sr., her brother Charles E. Walker and step-sister, Melba Jane (Roach) King, brother Jesse (Waxey) Walker Sr. and his wife Marylou Zenthoefer (Walker) and brother-in-law Rev. Lincoln Zoph Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Austin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IN. Burial will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 2, 2004 at the funeral home.
