Wanda May (Burkhead) McFall, 87, of Carmi, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born on November 4, 1927 in Monroe, IN, the daughter of Loren and Stella (Boxley) Burkhead. Wanda married Douglas G. McFall on June 3, 1949. She worked as a telephone operator for General Telephone and later as a housewife and did babysitting for the neighborhood children. Wanda was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Doug of Carmi; a daughter, Diana McFall of Atlanta, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Kathleen McFall of Mascoutah, IL; five grandchildren, Sarah (James) Friesen, Jennifer (Timothy) Kingery, Amanda (Marc) Ayala, Issa (Joshua Bardwell) Waters, and Philip (Racheal) Cook; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Margaret Sigurdson of Minden, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wanda was preceded in death by five sisters, Virginia Burkhead, Drusilla Hartman, Margaret Maddock, Portia Van Leuven and Audrey Petersen; and two brothers, Loren Burkhead, Jr and Jack Burkhead.
Local funeral services for Wanda May McFall, 87, of Carmi, will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Bob McKelvey officiating. Friends may call on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at Campbell Funeral Home.
On Monday, June 22, 2015 additional services will be held at Melby Funeral Home in Platteville, WIsconsin at 11:00 a.m. with visiting from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville.
Memorial gifts may be given in Wanda's name to Emmanuel United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
