Wanda L. Ackerman, 86, of Carmi, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 5:30 a.m. at Heritage Center in Evansville, IN. She was born on March 30, 1929 in Albion, IL, the daughter of Gilferd and Mary (Stanley) Roosevelt.
Wanda married Howard Charles Ackerman on February 28, 1953 and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2013. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi and the Hawthorne Unit of Home Extension. Wanda enjoyed square dancing, line dancing and especially her grandchildren; whom she was very proud of.
Wanda is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Susan Ackerman of Avon, OH and Dean and Jaci Ackerman of Evansville, IN; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jim Fenton of Carlinville, IL; a brother, Wilbur Roosevelt of Forsythe, IL; three grandchildren, Jessica, Katelyn and Tyler Ackerman; two step grandchildren, Dana Quinn and his wife, Debbie and Heather Baker and her husband, Zack; and one step great-grandchild, Evan Quinn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, George Edward Roosevelt; and two sisters-in-law, Ada Mae and Betty Roosevelt.
Funeral services for Wanda L. Ackerman, 86, of Carmi, will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Bob McKelvey and Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call on Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
