Walter L. Stahl, 84 of Burnt Prairie passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021, at home with his beloved wife at his side. Walter was born on December 21, 1936, in Mill shoals, Illinois, the son of Gust and Pearl (Taylor) Stahl. He married Patsy Rose Pierce on January 20, 1963, in Carmi, Illinois, and together they have shared more than 58 years of marriage. Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a machinist for Caterpillar for many years. Walter was a member of Ashland Christian Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Walter is survived by his wife, Patsy Stahl of Burnt Prairie, IL.; his children, Julie Heelan of Braidwood, IL., and Jeff (Ryan) Stahl of Villa Grove, IL.; grandchildren, Jaclyn (Kyle Kuehni) Heelan of Braidwood, IL., Jessica (Anthony) Gnutek of Braidwood, IL. and Logan and Etta Stahl of Villa Grove, IL.; great-grandchildren, Harlee, Ivie and Salina; a sister and brother-in-law, Verla and John Anselment of Carmi, IL.; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale, Orin, Carson and John Stahl as well as an infant brother; and a son-in-law, Jim Heelan.
Funeral services for Walter Stahl, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with burial at Burnt Prairie Cemetery with full military rites. Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at Campbell Funeral Home. Contributions can be made in Walter's memory to Ashland Christian Church or to Dr. Dennis Scranton Cancer Fund and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
