Voris "Sonny" Draper

Voris “Sonny” Draper 84, peacefully passed away at his home at 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 7th, 2017 with his family by his side. Sonny was born in Jefferson County, IL. on June 10, 1932 to Maurice and Nona (Koontz) Draper of Wayne City. Sonny married Geraldene Goldman on April 12, 1958. They were blessed with nearly 59 years of marriage.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Geraldine, “Dene”; five children, Marcia Donoho, Mt. Vernon, Merna Youngblood (Carl), Keenes, Janet Brandt (Don) Mt. Vernon, Paula Joy (Shawn), Mt. Vernon, Andy Draper (Jennifer), Mt. Vernon, and son-in-law Duane Donoho, Texico, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; brothers, Joe Draper of Mt. Vernon and Chris Draper of Wayne City; sisters, Judy Stoltz of Colorado and Jerry Waggoner of Kentucky; several nieces and nephews. Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Freda Shaw and two infant siblings.
Services for Voris “Sonny” Draper will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in the chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with the service immediately following. Bro. John Little will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Wayne City or SSM Hospice of Illinois at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan.
