Virgie Mae Goldman, age 82 of Mt. Vernon, IN, died early Wednesday morning January 7, 2009 at the Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 12, 1926 in Ringgold, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Ray and Myrtle Mae (Henry) Feeney. She married Elbert Goldman on March 30, 1946 in Morganfield, KY and, together, they operated the family farm until his death on May 18, 1994.



Mrs. Goldman had been a member of the Jolly Homemakers Club, the Two Rivers Camping Club, and was a member of Blacks Chapel United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, IN.


She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Marshall Rex and Svitlana Goldman of Evansville, son and fiance, Larry Goldman and Beverly Drumb of Posey County; daughter, Arleene Goldman of Pearland, TX and daughter and fiance, DeeAnn Jones and Gary Winters of Mt. Vernon. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Ted Goldman and wife, Lisa, of Haubstadt, IN; Casey Goldman and wife, Kristin, of Terre Haute, IN; Jennifer (Jones) Williams, and husband, Jason, of Mt. Vernon; Elizabeth Goldman of Owensboro, KY; and Rexanne Goldman of Mt. Vernon. Also surviving is one great-grandchild, Blake Goldman of Terre Haute, IN.



She was also preceded in death by her son, Brett Allen Goldman; her daughter, Debra Gayle Goldman; her brother, Vernon Ray Feeney of Jonesville, Mich. and her sister, Frances Cremeens of Mt. Vernon, IN.



Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday January 11, 2009 at the Austin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, IN. A private burial will be held in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday January 10, 2009 at Austin Funeral Home and also from noon until time of services on Sunday. Online condolences may be left at Austinfuneralhome.com.
