Verna Etienne

Verna Lee Etienne, 96, of Carmi, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi. She was born on March 10, 1929, in Hamilton County, Illinois, the daughter of Ellery and Ruby (Smith) Woodrow. Verna married Joseph Wilburn Etienne on January 12, 1948, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1986. She worked at Airtex in Fairfield for over 40 years. Verna had attended the Springerton Church of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and loved spending time with family.

Verna is survived by her daughter, Janet (Marvin) Roesch of Carmi, IL; grandchildren, Adam (Shannon) Roesch of Owensville, IN. and Ryan Roesch of Dahlgren, IL; great-grandchildren, Paige (Robbie) Wring of Carmi, IL, Lindi (Travis) Sparkman of New Albany, IN. and Miah Roesch of Evansville, IN; great-great grandchildren, Chandler, Chesney, Charlie and Creed; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Joseph Wilburn Etienne, Verna is preceded in death by her siblings, Bill Woodrow, Henry Woodrow, Doris Prince and Peggy Stahl.

Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. A graveside funeral service for Verna Lee Etienne will be held immediatly following the visitation in St. Patrick Cemetery in Enfield, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Verna's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
