Verla Brown

Verla Maxine (Kiefer) Brown, 94, of Carmi, passed away peacefully at home, on March 14, 2022.  She was born on February 22, 1928, the daughter of Edward and Alberta (Johnson) Kiefer.  Verla married Johnny Leroy Brown on December 26, 1942.  She was a member of the Carmi Square Dance Club. Verla loved her family. She also had a love for  animals, especially ducks.  She enjoyed playing games on the computer, electronic games, and hot rodding her Suzuki Fuzzy 50.

Verla is survived by her husband Leroy Brown of Carmi, IL; her children, Johnny Max (Charlotte) Brown of Palmyra, IN, Jimmy Brown of Carmi, IL, William "Bill" Brown of Carmi, IL, Chris (Sheri) Brown of Carmi, IL, and Judy (Ron) Coston of Carmi, IL; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild and two daughters-in-law, Sheryl Brown and Beverly Brown.

Funeral services for Verla Brown will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Centerville Cemetery in Carmi.  Family and friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
