Vercia Shaw

Vercia Marie Shaw, 92, of Cynthiana, IN and formerly of Norris City, went to be with the lord at 12:10 a.m., on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Home in Evansville, IN. She was born in Mill Shoals Twp. on December 30, 1924 the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Fulford) Gwaltney.  She married Carl Wilford Shaw on October 5, 1940 and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2000. Vercia loved her family, raising a garden, canning, embroidery, quilting and farm animals.

Vercia is survived by two sons, Larry Shaw of Waterloo, IL and Garry (Mary Ann) Shaw of Carmi; daughter, Patricia (Mike) Upton of Cynthiana, IN; brother Charles L. "Jumbo" (Mildred) Gwaltney of Carmi; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Carl W. Shaw, daughter, Sandra Shaw, and her parents, Charles and Sarah Gwaltney as well as, two sisters Velma Ellis and Viola Puckett and a brother, Hubert Gwaltney.

Funeral service for Vercia Marie Shaw, 92, of Cynthiana, IN and formerly of Norris City will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will be in Little Zion Cemetery in Enfield. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Memorial contributions may be made in Vercia's memory to Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City who is in charge of arrangements.
