Vera Pyle

Vera Pyle, 92, of Carmi, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 4:55 a.m. at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born September 11, 1922 in Rising Sun, IL, the daughter of John and Julie (Huff) James. Vera married Leonard Jasper Pyle on February 10, 1940 and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1951. She had worked at Ainsbrook Sewing Factory for 20 years and was a cook at Carmi Township Hospital Skilled Care Unit and the Baptist Children's Home. Vera was a member of Crossville Missionary Baptist Church and participated in many White County Senior Citizen's activities, where she especially enjoyed the dances.

Vera is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Sue Beam of Carmi and Lynn and William Kirk of Naples, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard Lee and Dottie Pyle of Burlington, KY; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Riley of Carmi and Louisa Hart of Evansville, IN; and two brothers, Andrew Jesse James of Mt. Vernon, IN and Floyd James of Lonoke, Arkansas. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Catherine Bush; a brother, John Lee James; and a son-in-law, James Beam.

Funeral Services for Vera Pyle, 92, of Carmi will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Vera's memory to Wabash Christian Retirement Center and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
