Vera Boyd

January 9, 1921 — May 25, 2016

Vera Boyd, 95, of Norris City passed away at 9:50 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born in McCall Creek, Mississippi on January 9, 1921 one of 11 children to Mose Sebastian and Verdie Kate (Cotton) Myres. Vera worked for Sears in her early years and after marrying Robert "Austin" Boyd in 1955, became a homemaker. She was a member of Ditney Ridge Baptist Church.

Vera is survived by her husband of 60 years, Austin; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Garry and Ellen Boyd of Lancaster, OH, Malcolm and Dianne Boyd of New Lexington, OH and Bill Hall of Bexley, OH; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Kris) Luckhaupt, Julie (Pat) Messerly, Kevin (Carrie) Boyd; Dustin (Shawna) Boyd, Tyler Boyd, Macey Boyd, Shawn (Ken) Grundey, Russell (Amy) Hall; Jeremy (Natalie) Hall and Annie Hall; 19 great-grandchildren, Alison, Victoria Ann, Taylor and Patrick Luckhaupt, Dominic Paul, Maria Rose and Michael Messerly; Brody Boyd, Lylah Boyd; Kati, Shayna, Kasey, and Jake Grundey, Madison, Sophia and Ethan Hall, Hudson and Evelyn Hall and Brinxston Hall;and two sisters.

Vera was preceded in death by a son, Chester Hall; along with 8 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for Vera Boyd will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Ditney Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Marsh officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City and from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made in Vera's memory to Shriners' Hospital and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
