Venita D. Hanks, 79, of Crossville, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 2:20 a.m. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born May 23, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, IN, the daughter of Wilburn Dean and Eunice Carrie (Allen) Jackson. Venita married Richard Hanks in 1983 and he preceded her in death in 1994. She worked for 26 years as a typist in the Abstractors Office at the Posey County Courthouse.
Venita is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Stan Whitley of Crossville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Darrell McKinney of Evansville, IN, Donna and Gene Fuelling of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Theresa and Larry Deig of Newburgh, IN; a brother and sister-in-law, Milburn and Cynthia Jackson of Naples, FL; two granddaughters, Tiffney and Taylor Whitley; grand dogs, Bella, Porky and Blitz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Darwin Jackson.
Funeral services for Venita D. Hanks, 79, of Crossville will be Friday, February 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Crossville United Methodist Church with Steve McClure officiating. Burial will be in Stokes Chapel Cemetery in Crossville. Friends may call at Crossville United Methodist Church on Friday after 11:00 a.m. until the service time. Memorial contributions may be made, in Venita's memory, to the American Cancer Society. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
