Velma Lee Lane,79, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at her residence. She was born July 12, 1944, in Centralia, Il the daughter of Roy and Daphna (Dunbar) Periman. On October 25,1961, Velma married M. David Lane and together they shared over 53 years of marriage. She was a 1962 graduate of Norris City-Omaha High School. Velma loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them.
Survivors include, her children, Stacey (David) Meyer of Coulterville, IL, Denita Jo (Dan) Schilli of Bloomsdale, MO, Gena Rae Lane of Mcleansboro, IL and Scott (Laurie) Lane of Dutton, AL; seven grandchildren, Josh (Stacey Fuller) Lane, Christen (Andrew) Dwyer, Marshall (Ashley Doza) Lane, Devin (Kim Moore) Schilli, Darissa (Josh) Rozenzweig, Justin (Jess Zander) Carron, Karley (Joseph) Henderson) and ten great-grandchildren, Madison, Jackson, Cierra, Cayden, Chasten, Henry, Addie, Nora, Connor and Kylee.
Funeral Services for Velma Lee Lane will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, with burial following immediately at West Union Cemetery near Carmi. Family and friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Velma’s memory to the Special Olympics or to the NCOE Alumni Scholarship Fund and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, who is in charge of the arrangements.
