Velma M. Bryant, 94, of Carmi passed away at 6:45 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born in Concord, IL on February 9, 1920 the daughter of Oscar and Nancy (Lichtenberger) Rogers. Velma married John R. Bryant in Morganfield, KY on December 24, 1936 and he preceded her in death on January 27, 2007. She was a farm wife, a member of McHenry United Methodist Church and attended chapel services at Wabash Christian Retirement Center.

Velma is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Alice Bryant of Carmi; two grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Sandra Bryant and Mary Ann and Adam Willis; and five great-grandchildren, Abbie, Isabelle and Eli Bryant and Mackenzie and Aidan Willis. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Lucy Turpin, Annabelle Stone, Helen Ferguson, Bessie Lipyanic and Edith Chastain and two brothers, Fred and Sonny Rogers.

Funeral Services for Velma M. Bryant, 94, of Carmi will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Steve McClure and Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made in Velma's memory to Wabash Christian Retirement Center and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
