Vella Garner

Vella Garner, 96, of Crossville passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center. She was born June 27, 1920 in Livingston, TN. She married Charles C. Garner on September 21, 1936 and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1992. Vella was a homemaker. She loved to quilt, crochet, and bake.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Ray (Margaret) Garner of Crossville, and Danny (Mary Lou) Garner of Crossville; one daughter, Lou Ann Ayer (Don) Webb of Smyrna, TN; six grandchildren, Michael (Gloria) Garner, Kay (Bill) Grunwald, David Wayne (Debbie) Ayer, Debbie (Randy) Jackson, Stephanie Eagan, Kelly (Jaclyn) Garner; eight great-grandchildren, Daniel (Cathleen) Garner, Christine (Derek) Wissel, Jacqueline (Cody) Kunce, Sarah and Katie Ayer, Justin Jackson and Nate and Katelyn Garner; three great-great-grandchildren, Andi, Nolan and Wyatt Garner. She has one surviving brother, Doyles (Maxine) Harvey of Livingston, TN; one sister-in-law Doris Harvey of Sparta; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services for Vella Garner, 96, of Crossville will be at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 12:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Vella's honor to Wabash Christian Retirement Center Chapel and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
