Veda Parker

Veda Pauline (Trout) Parker, 83, of Carmi, passed away at 1:24 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2017 at her residence. She was born March 19, 1934 in Broughton, IL, the daughter of Millege and Madeline (Campbell) Trout. Veda married Gilbert Parker on August  31, 1952 and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2006. She worked as a CNA at Wabash Christian Retirement Center and retired in July 2013. She had also worked at White County Nursing Home and White County Hospital Skilled Care. Veda was a member of the First Christian Church and active in Fish Group.

Veda is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Paul Ackerman, of Carmi; sister, Freda (Marvin) Abbey of Grayville; half sister, Ruth Yates of Carmi; two grandchildren, Amber (Willie Knight) Ackerman and Heath Ackerman; six great-grandchildren, Addison, Alivia, Cole, Isabella, Chase and Cannon; a special daughter, Kathy Arnold and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Bill Trout, four sisters, Wilma Marie, Roberta, Elizabeth Ann, and Grace, and a half sister, Sylvia.

Funeral services for Veda Pauline (Trout) Parker, 83, of Carmi, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Greg Grant officiating. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery in Carmi where Ben Arnold, Randy Graves, Derek Kirkpatrick, Steve Knight, Willie Knight and Troy Weber will serve as casketbearers. Addison Arnold and Alivia Graves will serve as honorary casketbearers. Visitation will be at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Veda's memory to Supportive Living of Wabash or Brownsville School and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
