Truman E. Garrett, 98, of Omaha, passed away at 6:00 a.m., on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center.  He was born on August 25, 1918 in Byrdstown, TN, the son of James A. and Cordie Lee (Taylor) Garrett. He was a World War II,  Army veteran and farmhand at Hale Farm for close to 30 years. Truman was a former member of the American Legion.

Truman is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Chris Garrett of Norris City; daughter-in-law, Vickie Garrett of Norris City; three grandchildren, Jamie Garrett, Lindsay "Marquis" Lamp and Chad Garrett; and two great-grandchildren Aubrey Jo Carter and Jaxon Lamp. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Cordie Garrett, his son James M. "Jim" Garrett, two brothers, Ralph and Yuel Garrett, three sisters Ruth Blazier, Martha Renshaw and Mary Barger.

Funeral services for Truman E. Garrett, 98, of Omaha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with Rick Absher officiating. Burial will be in Palestine #2 Cemetery in Omaha with Military Rites by Carmi VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on February 19, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Memorial contributions may be given in Truman's memory to Riley Children's Hospital and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
