Thurmon E. Blair, 78, of New Concord, Kentucky, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:35 a.m. at his residence. He was born July 2, 1935 in Holmes Mill, Kentucky, the son of Paris and Candace (Short) Blair. Thurmon married Reta Higginson on January 20, 1979. He was a coal miner at the Keensburg mine and a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. Thurmon was Baptist by faith, a member of the NRA and Am Vets. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his grand and great-grandchildren.
Thurmon is survived by his wife of 35 years, Reta of New Concord, KY; five daughters, Connie Jacobs and husband Perry and Ronja Canady and husband Channing all of Crossville, Tammy Luckett of Ridgway, Lisa Bass and husband Tim of Carmi and Elizabeth Tarlton and husband Steve of Equality; two sons, Cedrick Blair and wife Kelly of Rosiclare and Todd Blair and wife Faith of Norris City; a sister, Dorothy Madden of Ridgway and a brother, Don Blair and wife Betty of Taylorsville, KY; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and special friends in Hamblin, KY.
Funeral Services for Thurmon E. Blair, 78, of New Concord, KY will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2014 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Bishop Harold Miller officiating. Burial will be in Stokes Chapel Cemetery near Crossville with Military Rites by Carmi VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi on Monday from 11:00 until service time at 1:00 p.m.
