Thomas Vaught

Thomas Lee Vaught, 76 of Enfield, passed away Saturday August 19, 2017 at Deaconess Gateway in Newburg, In. He was born April 19, 1941 in Enfield, IL. the son of Braden (Skunk) Willis and Vivian (Sis) Belangee. He married Dang on November 14, 1976 in Schneider, Ok.

Tom retired as a Tech Sergeant of the US Air Force following a 20 year career from May 1959 to June 1979. In 1965 he was awarded Airman of the Quarter of the Pacific Air Force in support of the Viet Nam War. He returned home and retired after 20 years of employment with General Electric Company of Mt. Vernon, In. He served on the Enfield Village Board for two terms. He was a member of the VFW Post and the American Legion Post. He was a member of the Enfield Masonic Lodge. Tom was a member of Ashland Christian Church where he enjoyed serving communion each Sunday when his health allowed.

He is survived by his wife Dang Vaught of 40 years; daughters, Kristina Vaught and Lisa Davidson of Evansville, Indiana, and Traci Browning of Carmi, Illinois; brothers, Clinton (Brenda) Willis of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, and Braden (Susie) Willis of Enfield, Illinois; sister, Alice (Maurie) Black of Enfield, Illinois; sister-in-law, Sunee Khotwichai, Netherlands; grandchildren, Christopher (Sarah) Vaught of Enfield, Illinois and Tayler and Tarynn Browning of Carmi, Illinois; and expecting the arrival of his first great granddaughter Talynn in September; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his boys, Babe and Skunk his Polmarin dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; Tom and Pearl Vaught, step father; Victor (Babe) Artin, son; Tommy Jr. and sister, Vicky Coe.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday August 22, 2017 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield with burial in Enfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday August 21, 2017 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Carmi V.F.W. and American Legion.
