Thomas M. "Tom" McHugh, III, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL. He was born May 6, 1936 in Portsmouth, OH the son of Thomas M. and Estelle (Minter) McHugh, II. Tom married Mary Beth Edwards on October 4, 1954. He worked as a painter and member of Painters Local 33 in Joliet, Local 259 in Eau Claire, WS and Local 61 in St. Paul, MN. He had also ran a Shell Gas Station in Joliet. Tom was a member of the Pipefitters Local 597 in Chicago, Joliet Moose Lodge, the Carmi Rifle Club and Carmi Elks. Tom enjoyed racing UARA midgets in Joliet.
Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Beth of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Michael Wolf of McHenry, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas M. and Louisa McHugh, IV of Rio Rancho, NM; two brothers, Kenneth McHugh of Elmhurst, IL and John McHugh of Downers Grove, IL; and five grandchildren, Kevin Wolf, Thomas M. McHugh, V, Kristy Ward, Karen Wolf and Kim Wolf.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James McHugh.
Services will be held at a later date. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is handling arrangements.
