Thomas Hannigan

Thomas Leroy Hannigan, 83, of Ponte Vedra Beach, passed away February 19, 2014. He was born February18, 1931, in York, Pennsylvania to his late parents, Thomas and Mary Hannigan.

Thomas was a 1958 graduate from the University of Notre Dame, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. Tom Hannigan worked as auditor for the US Federal Government (FEMA branch) he and his wife Ann lived & raised their family in Upper Marlboro MD area. Soon after his retirement in 1987 Tom & Ann moved to Gettysburg, PA and where able to enjoy the world traveling. After Ann's death in 1999, Tom then moved to Bethany Beach, DE to be near his siblings and was a loving grandfather. Tom Hannigan will be remembered as an avid sports enthusiast who delighted in statics and trivia. As strong advocate for higher education, Tom financed all the college degrees for his wife, children and for his grandchildren.

Surviving Family members include son, Geoffrey (Susan) Hannigan; daughter, Sheila (Eric) Eastland; grandchildren, Bridget Hannigan, and Caitlin, Parker, and Paige Eastland; brothers, Richard Hannigan and Michael (Katie) Hannigan; and sisters, Mary Valdes and Patricia Hannigan; sister-in-laws, Helen Luster of Denton, TX, Mary Jo York of Shawneetown and Ruth Mitchell of Dahlgren; a brother-in-law, Bernie Mitchell of Enfield, and several nieces and nephews.

Thomas was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara Ann (Mitchell) Hannigan.

Funeral Service for Thomas L Hannigan will be held at 10 o'clock on March 22, 2014 at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Enfield, IL where he will be laid to rest with his loving wife Ann.
