Thelma Wagner, 84, of Carmi, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her children, Thursday morning, June 8, 2017. She was born November 2, 1932 in Dahlgren, IL, the daughter of William and Nola (Cross) Kennedy.
On April 25, 1953 she married the love of her lifetime, James N. “Jim” Wagner in Dahlgren, IL. They celebrated over 51 years of marriage before his passing on January 18, 2005.
Thelma worked for many years at Ainsbrook clothing factory until its closing. She then worked for Addus Home Health Care until retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Carmi VFW Ladies Auxiliary and past president of the VFW & American Legion Auxiliary. She remained very active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and just loved helping with Bingo and making angel food cakes for their bake sales. She loved cooking and sewing. She spent many, many hours sewing and making the blankets and quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mother will be sadly missed by her son, Tom Wagner; daughters, Marcia (Bruce) Hollingsworth, and Marilyn Myers; grandchildren, Richard (Kim) Hollingsworth, Tabitha (Derek) Storms, Dana (Brent) Bretz; Great-grandchldren, Mitchell and Ella Bretz, Hannah, Hailey, Hayden Hollingsworth, and Britton Storms; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, Lee, Wayne and Ivan Kennedy.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Dahlgren IOOF Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
