Terry Barnes

Terry W. Barnes, 74 of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away Monday February 19, 2018 at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 15, 1943 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Paul R. and Edna E. Wood Barnes. He married Betty Garrett on August 3, 1963 in New Harmony.

Terry worked for Pioneer Seed for 24 years then G.E. Plastic for the next 17 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of Owen Dunn Post #5 and served in the Naval Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of 54 years; his daughters, Katherine (Curtis) Owens of Evansville and Kristi J. (Robert) Turner of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Shelena (Ken) Coonfied, Arielle (Kevin) Behrisch, Nathan Turner and Zachary Turner; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer F. Barnes of Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. On Thursday February 22, 2018 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon, IN with burial in Blacks Cemetery with military rites by Owen Dunn Post #5. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. On Wednesday at the funeral home.
