Sylvia Barnes

Sylvia N. Barnes 78, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away Sunday February 25, 2018 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born August 7, 1939 in Caldwell County, KY the daughter of Joe T. and Lilly Mae (Gunther) Bailey. She married Elmer Barnes on October 12, 1957 in Mt. Vernon.

Sylvia had worked at the Mt. Vernon Democrat, Dairy Queen and McDonalds. She was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly Church in Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by her husband Elmer; son, Danny (Cathy) Barnes of Mt. Vernon, daughters, Sandy Thomas of Eldorado, IL and Tammy (David) Lottes of Evansville; grandchildren, Kacie (William) Irby, Kerry Thomas, Geoff Barnes, Bret Hoehn and Kelly (Eric) Lucas; great-granddaughter, Brianna Bennett; and her sister, Dean Adams of Henderson, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on  Thursday March 1, 2018 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
