Sue James

      Sue James, 76, of Norris City, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi, Illinois. She was born on November 27, 1946, in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of James Robert and Mary (Myer) Hamblen.  Sue married Ray James on October 3, 1964, and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2020. She worked for TRCA in Ridgway and was a member of the Norris City Lioness Club. Sue served on the Village of Norris City board since April 3, 1988. 

     Sue is survived by her children, Kimberly Rae "Kimmie" (Ron) Garlick of Norris City, IL. and Micheal Justin "Judd" (Jennifer) James of Carmi, IL; grandchildren, Chris (Ashley) Garlick, Caitlin (Jonathon) Noel and Jace Carter; great-grandchildren, Mitchell Noel and Westyn Garlick; a brother, Steve (Marilyn) Hamblen; a sister-in-law, Euna (Ronnie) Stokes; two brothers-in-law, Wayne (Ruth) McKenzie and Phil Horste; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband. Ray James, Sue is preceded in death by her parents; a brother James Randal "Jimbo" Hamblen; and two sisters-in-law, Rosie Waters and Sheila Horste.

     A graveside memorial service will be held for Sue James at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Sue's memory to the Norris City Park Fund and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, who is in charge of arrangements.
