Sue (Severns) DuSablon, 79, of Seymour, IN, and formerly of Carmi, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour, IN. She was born in Evansville, IN on December 22, 1943, the daughter of Frank and Thelma (Bowers) Severns. Sue married Arthur B. "Art" DuSablon, on December 15, 1990. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour and had previously been a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carmi. Sue helped Art with operating Eastside Package in Carmi along with serving as a Carmi City Councilwoman and the Police Commissioner.
Sue was the life of the party wherever she went, and she made a celebration out of every holiday, especially Christmas, her favorite. One of her greatest characteristics was that she never knew a stranger and could spark a conversation up with anyone. In her younger years she was an avid saxophone player, and she really enjoyed attending concerts and listening to live music. In her later years she traveled the world and enjoyed going on Cardinal cruises. Sue could turn any quick shopping trip into an all day adventure, and her youthful enthusiastic spirit was contagious. Most importantly, though, Sue loved her family. She never missed a chance to show and tell that to all she was close to, especially her grandchildren, who she cherished deeply.
Sue is survived by her husband of 32 years, Art of Seymour, IN; a son, Mathew (Vanessa) DuSablon of Seymour, IN; and four grandchildren, Sophia, Bianca, Caroline and AJ DuSablon. She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-son, John DuSablon, and two brothers, Richard "Dick" and Charlie Severns.
