Stephen R. Phillips, age 51 of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday afternoon November 7, 2012 at his home. He was born June 19, 1961 in Evansville, the son of Alvin E. and Mary (Wilhite) Phillips.
Stephen worked as a butcher at IGA, Tolers, and BuyLow. He had been a member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by four brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Kristina, Gary, and Brian and Pam Phillips all of Mt. Vernon, and Roger and Patty Phillips of Owensboro, KY; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Gross of Troy, IL, Mary and Bernard Bigge of St. Phillips, Janet and Dennis Gambrel of Owensville, IN and Diane and Herman Turner of Lebanon, IN; a step-son, Chris Calderon. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Stanley Alvin Phillips.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday November 9, 2012 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home at 1330 E. 4th St., Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday.
