Stanley L. “Gypsy” Ross, 72, of Carmi passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019. He was born in Detroit, MI on March 15, 1947 the son of Robert “Bob” and Doris (Eck) Ross. Stan was a Union Carpenter and a Marine Corp. Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Stan loved to play Cribbage and work word puzzles. He enjoyed going out for breakfast and watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke. However, his pride and joy was his Chevy SSR.
Stan is survived by two daughters, Karen Glaser and Desiree Ross both of Arizona; a sister, Bonnie (James) Earl of Elberfeld, IN; a brother, Robert Allen (Donna) Ross of Evansville, IN; a brother-in-law, Keith Carter of Carmi; two aunts, Virginia Connolly and Janet (Gary) Baxley all of Carmi; an uncle Clarence (Dorothy) Eck of Michigan; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sharon Carter.
A Memorial Service for Stanley “Gypsy” Ross, 72, of Carmi will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with full military rites by the Carmi American Legion and VFW. Private burial will be held at a later date in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to White County Relay for Life and accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
