Stanley Stephens

Stanley R. Stephens, 82 of Carmi, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Stanley was born on January 17, 1936 in Centerville, the son of Jesse R. and Edna F. (Stanley) Stephens.

Stanley had worked in the oilfield, but was a true farmer. From nurturing newborn piglets, to farming the land, Stanley had the strength and caring hand to get the job done right. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed gardening, which was shown in his prize tomatoes.  He enjoyed watching Pastor Charles Stanley on Sunday mornings. His most cherished moments were those spent with his family and loved ones.  The care and dedication Stanley put into everything he did is known by all who knew and loved him.

Stanley is survived by his sons; Johnny (Mary Jordan), Stan (Judy Bailey), Jesse, and Danny. Sisters; Frances (Melvin) Herrington, Faye Whobrey, and Sue (Wayne) Taylor. Grandchildren; Jessica Stephens, Ashley Clay, Joshua Stephens, Kyle (Mandy) Stephens, Neil (Amanda) Simpson, Gillian (Bill Gadd) Lanning, Trista (Scott Blaine) Stephens, Samantha Murphy, Haley Catiller, Bethany Allen, Charlotte Stephens, Katelyn Stephens and Peyton Stephens; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse R. and Edna F. Stephens; two brothers, Johnny and Jesse L. "Buddy" Stephens, step-son, Billy Allen, grand-daughter, Audrey Allen.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the time of the service. Burial will be at Centerville Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com.
