Shirley Naney

November 9, 1936 — April 29, 2017

Shirley J. Naney, 80, of Carmi passed away at 7:15 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.  She was born in Cottonwood, IL on November 9, 1936 the daughter of Shelby and Pearl (Wooten) Hankins.  Shirley married Charles M. "Sonny" Naney on February 5, 1958 and he preceded her in death on November 27, 2003.  Shirley worked as a secretary for Henry Fullop and RAM Oil Company.  She attended McHenry Good News Church and enjoyed teaching painting classes.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Mary Naney of Carmi; two grandchildren, Angie (Matt) Thompson and Savannah Matz; one great-granddaughter, Carley Baxter; and three sisters, Dorla Adcock, Brenda (Jim) Harre and Hilda (Darrell) Fisher all of Borger, TX.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a brother, Shelby Hankins; and a brother-in-law, Bob Adcock.

Funeral services for Shirley J. Naney, 80, of Carmi will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Mike Fields officiating.  Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden in Carmi.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to the Wabash Christian Retirement Center, Memory Care Unit and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
