Shirley McBride

Shirley L. (Kennedy) McBride, 70, of Mt. Vernon, died Friday, March 23, 2007 at Specialty Select Hospital in Evansville. Shirley was born in Posey County Indiana, July 28, 1936, daughter of Ernest and Florence (Gill) Kennedy. Shirley graduated from Mt. Vernon High School with the Class of 1954. She was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. Shirley had worked for the Posey County Sheriff and Treasurers office. She had also served on the board of the Thrift Shop. Shirley was preceded in death by a sister, Jane, in 1945, her father, in 1958, and her mother, in 2000. Shirley was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert P. “Bob” McBride of Mt. Vernon; sons, Bobby McBride, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Mt. Vernon, Andy McBride and his wife Kristi of Mt. Vernon, and Ernie McBride of Mt. Vernon; a sister Mary Kathryn Means of Mt. Vernon; 2 grandchildren, Josh McBride and Erin Hoehn and her husband Aaron.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 AM Tuesday, March 27 at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 East Fourth Street, Mt. Vernon, IN, continuing at 10:00 AM at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in St. Matthews Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, at the funeral home where a prayer service will be held at 4:00pm.
