Shirle Stokes

Shirle F. Stokes, 76, of Lakewood, Co, formerly of Carmi passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 3:55 pm at Villa Manor Care Center in Lakewood, CO. She was born November 29, 1940 in Rosiclaire, IL the daughter of Ormar and Dorothy (Oxford) Foster.  Shirle married Daniel A. Stokes on August 7, 1960 and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2011.  She was a 1958 graduate of Carmi Township. Shirle went on to attend SIU receiving a bachelors degree in English and she also received a masters degree in computer programming. She worked as a hair stylist and interior designer in Cave-in-Rock and Carmi. She also had worked as a computer programmer. Shirle was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carmi.

Shirle is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sara Beth and David Lee Beauxis of Morrison, CO; half-sister, Sharon Foster of Chicago, IL; a very special granddaughter, Lola Zoe Beauxis; and Becky Redman of Orlando, FL and Kelly Wheeler of Palm Springs, CA who were like daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel Stokes, her son, Daniel Adam Stokes, and a brother, Robert Foster.

Funeral services for Shirle F. Stokes, 76, of Lakewood, Co, formerly of Carmi will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery in Norris City. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 26, 2017 after 2:30 pm at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirle's memory to Pet's at Risk and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
