Sheila James

     Sheila Renee James, 61, of Carmi, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 7, 2023. She was born in Bloomington, Illinois, on October 2, 1961, the daughter of Jerry D. and Maxine (Anderson) Shipley. Sheila married Eddie James on June 28, 2002, and he survives. She worked as a CNA at Meadowbrook Nursing and Rehab in Grayville, Illinois as well doing home health.  Sheila was a member of the Maunie Church of God and enjoyed going to rummage sales and playing bingo. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

     Sheila is survived by her husband, Eddie James of Carmi, IL; her mother, Maxine Shipley of Eurkea, IL; two children, Katie Brown of Carmi, IL. and Elijah James of Crossville, IL; one step-son Jesse Franklin of Maunie, IL; several step-grandchildren; siblings, Carla (Jerome) Buckner of Jacksonville, FL, Roberta Moye of Corpus Christi, TX, and Debbie (Chuito) Lizarrago of Williams, AZ; a sister-in-law, Vivian (Noal) Brown of Crossville, IL, and a Brother-in-law, Alfred (Bobbi) James of El Paso, IL, as well several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Shipley Sr; a brother, Jerry Shipley Jr; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Claude and Betty James; and a brother-in-law, Paul W. James.

     A graveside funeral service for Sheila James will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Melrose Cemetery in Carmi. Family and friends may visit from 12:30 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Melrose Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Sheila's memory to her family, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
