Sharon Fletcher

May 6, 1941 — October 14, 2016

Sharon Kay Fletcher, 75, of Norris City, went home to be with our Lord on October 14, 2016.  She was born in Elizabethtown, Illinois on May 6, 1941 the daughter of William Edward and Mildred Pauline (Swent) Creason, Jr.  Sharon married William E. Fletcher on January 28, 1990.  She spent her early years working at Elgin State Hospital and later was a factory worker for various companies, including Chicago Rawhide.

She leaves behind a legacy that includes a brother, Bill Doggett and a sister, Lorene Taylor; two sons, Ted (Jacinta) Fann and Kenny (Janet) Fann; two daughters, Sonja (Mike) Sullivan and Jona (Carl) Zanier; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Although if you ask anyone who knew her, they would tell you those numbers were much greater.  Most people didn't even call her by her name.  She was simply referred to as "Granny."  She loved so fiercely and so freely that she drew others into her orbit and once you were her family, that was it.  She would go to war for those she loved.

In her final moments on the earthly plain, she was surrounded by love and family.  As her vessel took its last breath, she was welcomed to her eternal home home by our lord and all of her loved ones who had been awaiting her arrival: her husband William Fletcher; her mother Millie Doggett; the father who raised her, Joe Doggett; three sisters, Shirley Faye Creason, Margie Dodge, and Mary Lou Doggett; two daughters, Nina Wheeler and Rebecca Lynn; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Graveside funeral services for Sharon Kay Fletcher, 75, of Norris City, will be on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Ditney Ridge Cemetery near Norris City.  Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is handling arrangements.
