Samuel Max Hamblin, age 65, of Carmi, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born June 3, 1948, in Evansville, the son of Samuel Asa and Mary “Litty” (Jobe) Hamblin. He married Sharon Cozart on June 3, 2004, and she survives.
Sam retired from Babcock and Wilcox after thirty years of working as a welder. He enjoyed playing and listening to old music. He loved riding Harley Davidson Motocycles. He was a Mason and was a member of the May Lodge in Norris City.
He is also survived by his first wife, Norma Jean Jackson; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Rachel Hamblin of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Jeff Bartley of Carmi; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda Sue and Richard Dozier of Carmi; a sister-in-law, Francis Hamblin of Norris City; five grandchildren, Chance Hamblin, Ben Gill, Samantha Cantrell, Ryan Bartley, and Jacob Bartley; five great-grandchildren, Hayle Gill, Kyle and Chloe Cantrell, Devin, and Abel Gill; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Charles and Jim.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be held Friday, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, with Masonic Burial Rites being performed at 6:00 pm. Burial will be in Marshall Ferry Cemetery.
