Sam Williams, Jr, 91, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois. He was born on August 31, 1932, in Enfield, Illinois, the son of Samuel Latham and Mary Thula (Foley) Williams. Sam married Joan Weiss on August 14, 1950, and she preceded him in death on March 27, 2013. He worked as a Drilling Manager for Di-Kor and later for Frontier Kemper. Sam was a member of Enfield Christian Church and served as a Deacon for a time. He enjoyed quail hunting and loved spending time with his family.
Sam is survived by his children, Eric (Jan) Williams of Argyle, TX, Julie (Mike) Daniel of O'Fallon, IL, Mike (Juli) Williams of Carmi, IL, and Tony (Irma) Williams of McLeansboro, IL; grandchildren, Ryan (Courtney) Williams, Worth (Deidra) Williams, Jeremy (Misty) Dozier, Jayla Boone, Jade (Leah) Dozier, Neely Pierce, Keely (Zach) Brown, Kinzy Williams, Keiston (Jessica) Williams, Kramer (David) Gunter, Shawn (Whitney) Williams, Shelby (Kelsey) Williams and Shane (Anna) Williams; 26 great-grandchildren and one on the way in June; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Betty Pierson. In addition to his wife, Joan Williams, Sam is preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Sawyer Ann Blazier; and siblings, Robert Doyle Williams and Ruby Helen Cushman.
Funeral services for Sam Williams will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Enfield Christian Church, with burial at Enfield Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024. Enfield Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Sam's memory to Enfield Christian Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, or mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
