Ruth Louise King, 93, of Carmi passed away at 5:14 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at Carmi Manor. Louise, later known as Ms. Ruth, was born in Springerton, IL on September 2, 1922 the daughter of Hayward Paul and Madge Lee (McGehee) Carter. She married Luther Harold King on November 9, 1940 and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1983. Louise was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Jerry Simmons of Carmi and Deloris "Dee" and Jerry Byrd of Carmi; along with several nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Carter and a brother, Carl Carter.
Graveside funeral services for Ruth Louise King, 93, of Carmi will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2016 in Hammack Cemetery in Springerton with Rev. Bob McKelvey officiating. Friends may call at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Carmi Manor and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
