Ruth Austin

Ruth Austin, 80, of Norris City passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at her home. Ruth was born May 26, 1932 in White County, IL the daughter of Jesse B. and Lois (Cummins) McKenzie. She married Richard Dale Cozart and he preceded her in death August 12, 1951 and later married Howard L. "Bud" Austin on April 14, 1954 and he preceded her in death on November 20, 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, the VFW Auxiliary and Home Extension.

Ruth is survived a daughter and son-in-law, JoEllen and John Rooney of Greenville, NY; a son and a daughter-in-law, John W. and Cheryl Cozart of Norris City; a brother, Earl Dean McKenzie, Sr. of Norris City; 12 grandchildren, Tracey Boehm, Edward W. McDonald, Jr., Christina Agan, Megan Rooney, Sean M. Cozart, Shane A. Cozart, Arlene Campbell, Nathan W. Cozart, Michel A. Mentzos, Susan McGuian, Jeff Campbell and Steve Campbell; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Eugene "Jum" McKenzie and Noel Wayne "Dude" McKenzie.

Funeral Services for Ruth Austin, 80, of Norris City will be Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with the Rev. Wayne Vaupel officiating. Burial will be in the White County Memorial Garden near Carmi. Friends may call on Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
