Rosa Ann Hobbs, 80 of Evansville, died Thursday morning, January 15, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital. She was born on October 25, 1934 in Anniston, AL, the daughter of Luther M. and Mattie Josephine (Morgan) Owen. She married Clyde Hobbs on July 15, 1955 in Anniston.
Rosa worked 16 1/2 years for GE and 4 1/2 years for Martin-Marietta. She worked for March of Dimes and Easter Seals and was very passionate about their causes. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde; son and daughter-in-law, Steve & Sandy Hobbs of Mt. Vernon; daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne & Paul Swanson of Mt. Vernon and Kathy & Henry Bockelman of Evansville; 6 grandchildren, Meghan (Matthew) Thurlow, Emily Keck, Ashley Wager, Abby Culliver, Frehley Woods, and Sadie Hobbs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Luther Marvin (Wanda) Owen of Anniston, AL and Clark Morgan (Carolyn) Owen of Madison, AL; sister, Betty Jo Sprayberry of Weaver, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Dani Marie Hobbs.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Haywood officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
