Ronnie L. “Fat Boy” Yates, 68 of Carmi, passed away Thursday morning February 26, 2015 at his home. He was born March 5, 1946 in Carmi, the son of Claude and Ferrell (Guinn) Yates. He married Ruth Chilton on August 9, 1974 and she survives.
Ronnie had worked for Mitchell Drilling and as a farmhand for John Hansman.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his mother, Ferrell Jacobs of McLeansboro; two brothers, Glenn (Carla) Jacobs and Charles (Kim) Jacobs of Crossville; one sister, Patsy (Tom) D’Amico of Booneville, IN; several cousins and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by is father, Claude and his step-father, Roll Jacobs.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday February 28, 2015 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with burial in N. Maple Ridge Cemetery.
